There’s no use denying it: snow is rare in Chios. One can remember only a handful of times that Chora (the island’s capital) was covered in snow. But the mountains in the north of Chios humour us almost every year and get clad in white, offering the opportunity to hike amid snowy landscapes.

Like yesterday. Despite the freezing cold and the scathing north wind, the hike on “Mont Blanc” was a delight.

* The third highest peak in Chios is Oros, which simply means “mountain”. Mont Blanc translates to White Mountain.
